Fujifilm FinePix X20 and X100S launched at CES

Fujifilm has ripped the wrappers off the X20 and X100S, set to be the next additions to its X family of high-quality, retro-styled cameras.

The FinePix X20, to give it its full name, is a compact point-and-shoot with a 2/3-inch sensor and looks set to replace the existing X10 model (a camera which we love dearly, as you’ll see if you read our review).

The body and lens are almost identical in design to the X10, but the sensor is a new X-Trans CMOS II model that will offer better image quality; its lack of a low-pass filter should mean shots are sharper. The optical viewfinder will feature a digital panel that displays settings info too.

The Fujifilm FinePix X100S, meanwhile, is an updated edition of the X100 (another one we loved – read our review) where the main improvement is faster autofocus. It also uses a new X-Trans CMOS II sensor, and the phase detection autofocus works much quicker than the somewhat sluggish AF of the X100. In fact, Fujifilm claims that the X100S boasts no less than “the world’s fastest AF”. Low light performance should also be better.
