Stuff Office Cat’s Diary – 31/07/12

Free postcards for everyone, motorbikes that change shape, and edible coffee mugs – just a few of the gifts Office Cat has today

For all those wandering outside their territory, Touchnote and Samsung are teaming up to let anyone can send free physical postcards to their loved ones using their smartphone and its pics. Samsung is footing the bill with the Touchnote app (Android, Facebook, and online) meaning you can send unlimited postcards of photos you’ve taken – until August 31st. Send Office Cat your cat-snaps.

While Office Cat loves mice, his paws make clicking a chore – because of his sweaty pads. Fortunately the Cyclone Edition gaming mouse is here to save the day, with a 6000rpm motor powering a fan that shifts air at 2.6 cubic feet per minute. And with a release date of August and price of US$80 (£50) it’s already found its place beneath the ball-with-a-bell-in-it and the catnip on Office Cat’s shopping list.

Office Cat is a social animal, so the news that Facebook’s adding an offline reading feature has him purring with delight. Soon you’ll be able to save all your Facebook updates and stories in your feed with the touch of a button for offline reading later. The update will initially be made available on iOS devices as well as the Facebook website. You’ll be able to hit a save button which will send the article to a subfolder inside your favourites across all your platforms.

Office Cat is a pretty flexible beast, but he has nothing on designer Eyai Melnick’s Shavit Electronic Adjustable Superbike. Melnick’s concept transforms from an urban bike to a racing steed with its adjustable footpegs, forks, and sub-frame. That means a comfortable upright riding position while negotiating town traffic that hunkers down for a more aerodynamic racing position once you get up to speed. Likelihood it gets built? Office Cat can but dream.

When food meets tech, great things happen, like this edible coffee cup from Lavazza. Office Cat’s a bit of a caffiene fiend, and the combination of an espresso with a pastry shell containing an inner sugar layer to sweeten the drink has him buzzing with anticipation. It’s like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for adults.
