Sonos outs new Controller for Android app, Sonos Labs and Spotify update

If you've got a Sonos Play:3 hiding in the corner, read on for an upgrade frenzy

Sonos has saved up all its updates to bombard us all at once, announcing Android tablet support on the free Sonos Controller for Android app as well as improved Spotify integration. So if you’ve been sighing over your Sony Tablet S or Samsung Galaxy Tab’s inability to get on nicely with your Sonos wireless music system, hop to the Android Market to download the updated app and get streaming. The Sonos Controller for Android app now works with tablets running Android 2.2 or higher and includes music library management and Twitter support.

Spotify subscribers will be able to play top tracks and new releases through Sonos systems, like the Sonos Play:3, as well as getting access to the Spotify Inbox once you download Sonos 3.6 for free. But Sonos Labs could make things much more interesting – if Spotify isn’t your thing, you’ll now be able to try out music services in Beta. And music partners currently include the remaining big hitters of Napster, Pandora, Deezer and Last.fm. For everyone else, we’re just left with Sonos envy and an iPod dock.
