Polar RCX5 GPS Heart Rate Monitor watch revealed

If you like running and seeing how close to popping your heart you can get, this is ideal

The Polar RCX5 doesn’t look like the sort of watch that’ll set your heart racing, with its monochrome display and faintly alarming red design. But it’ll tell you exactly what your heart’s doing, with its armband-wearable GPS and chest-wearable Heart Rate Monitor telling you exactly how hard you’re working out – and where.

It even works with stride and cadence sensors for running and cycling revolutions per minute. And the WearLink+ Hybrid transmitter is waterproof so you can take it swimming.

The fact that all its sensors are separate means you don’t have to worry about charging the watch, only the sensors you are going to use. With settings like Race Pace, which allows you to set a pace to aim for and visualises how you’re doing on the watch, it even helps to give you a willpower boost.

The Polar RCX5 GPS Heart Rate Monitor watch is out late October and will cost you £360.
