Apple iPhone 4 outed by bloggers

Following yesterday’s story about the supposed find of Apple’s next-gen handset, Gizmodo has acquired the future iPhone and splashed a ton of details. A letter to the blog from Apple SVP Bruce Sewell asking for its return has put the story beyond doubt.

The Giz boys haven’t been able to get the phone running, so some of the spec’s a tad fuzzy. Still, here’s what we know:

Camera

Bigger lens (and presumably sensor) and has a flash; there’s also a front-facing camera

Screen

Resolution has been improved, though it’s not clear how much (possibly 960×640)

Noise cancelling?

A second mic has been spotted near the headphone jack – possibly to be used for noise cancelling

Physical appearance

The curves have gone in favour of a brickier form with rounded edges. Split volume buttons, power and mute are all metallic, as is the aluminium border around the outside. The back appears to be ceramic.

Bigger (but better)

Although Giz thinks the screen is a bit smaller than the 3GS, the unit is 3g heavier and has a 16 per cent bigger battery

No news yet on this thing’s guts – we’d expect a beefier processor (like the iPad’s 1GHz A4) and bolstered capacity from all those apps you’ll be able to put on iPhone 4 OS.

Take a look at the Gizmodo scoop here, and keep an eye on Stuff.tv for any updates. Will you be upgrading to iPhone 4 or sticking to your 3GS for the time being? Let loose in the comments.
