Feeling blue? This new concept car from Renault should cheer you up

That’s an awfully blue car…

Yup – the Renault Alpine A110-50’s Alpine Blue colour scheme and styling pays tribute to the Alpine A110 Berlinette sports car – albeit with a modern twist, using Renault’s current design language.

Oh really? How so?

Okay, it’s not that close to the Berlinette – the A110-50 mostly draws its inspiration from the more recent Renault DeZir electric concept car – albeit wit sporty touches like scissor doors and a whopping great rear spoiler. Retro touches harking back to the Berlinette include LED rings at the front, echoing the original’s fog lights, and a front-hinged bonnet.

And what’s under the bonnet?

The Alpine A110-50 is based on the Megane Trophy chassis, powered by a 3.5l V6 that pumps out 400hp. You also get a dual-clutch six-speed gearbox, 21in wheels and adjustable Sachs dampers. Sadly the A110-50’s only a concept for now, so you’ll have to content yourself with watching it in action in the video below.
