HP reveals ElitePad 900 Windows 8 tablet

The PC giant's latest slate is dressed for business in a sharp and shiny suit. TouchPad who?

HP has parted its curtains to reveal the ElitePad 900, an Intel Atom-powered business tablet with a premium design that couldn’t be much further away from the ill-fated black plastic TouchPad if it tried.

The HP ElitePad 900’s spec sheet includes a 10.1in 1200×800 display with Gorilla Glass 2 protection as well as a front-facing 1080p camera for beaming your detailed mug across the interwebs, in addition to an 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash.

At 9.2mm thin and tipping the scales at 680g, the HP ElitePad 900 is also kitted out in durable machined aluminium and can apparently take three foot drops in its stride (not that we’d ever want to find out).

64 or 32GB of SSD storage, a mircoSD card slot and SIM card slot round off the spec sheet rather nicely, and with a pair of cases offering extra batteries, keyboard docking function and USB and HDMI outputs, the HP ElitePad 900 should be set for casual desktop use too.

The HP ElitePad 900 won’t be hitting US shelves till January but stay tuned for UK release and pricing information as and when we get it.
