How to get Disney+ free with your Sky subscription

Disney+ now comes free for millions of Sky subscribers. It joins an array of streaming content Sky is offering as part of the monthly bill

Millions of Sky TV subscribers will today power on their televisions to see Disney+ is now included in their content offering at no extra cost. The added perk, announced last month and rolling out now, enables customers to access the Disney+ Standard With Ads tier (worth £5.99 a month) without paying any more.

If they’d prefer to have the Standard or Premium Disney+ plans, they’ll see the same amount knocked off the price. Those with existing subscriptions can easily move their accounts to their Sky plan and keep their profile and watch history. New subscribers can sign up too.

Furthermore there’s a dedicated Disney+ Sky Cinema channel arriving on channel 305, while some Disney+ shows will air on Sky’s linear channels – including the critically acclaimed series The Bear. Everything’s bundled into the interface with unified search, the chance to add Disney content to playlists, and support for Continue Watching from the Sky homepage.

The offer of free or discounted Disney+ is available Sky Stream and Sky Glass customers with Ultimate TV, (most) Sky Q customers, and Sky Essential TV customers with Sky Cinema.

Those who already have paid access to Disney+ through Sky will see the discount automatically applied. They don’t need to do anything.

Others, who don’t yet subscribe, or do it through a third party, will need to activate manually. That process can be started by using the “Get Disney+” voice command on the Sky remote and then following some on-screen instructions.

It joins the array of streaming platforms available as part of the Sky subscription. There’s also Netflix, Hayu and HBO Max (both of the latter are coming soon), meaning £20 worth of streaming apps will soon be included every month. Considering there’s a Sky Ultimate TV bundle from £24 a month for new subscribers, you’re looking at some pretty great value.
