Floor-stomping its way from the usual line-up of portables, Ministry of Sound has pulled out a DVD-playing micro system. At just 100 quid it’s light on the wallet but heavy on the bass and pumps 65W RMS from its pseudo-surround 2.1 aluminium grilled speakers. Adding extra oomph is the matching silver sub that'll tuck neatly behind the bed or sofa for that enhanced rumble effect. The main unit looks resplendent with a mirror-fronted panel hiding a microwave-style vacuum fluorescent display. All it asks is that you keep it fed with DVDs or CDs (MP3-packed discs also gratefully accepted), and that if you do switch on the built-in tuner you lay off the Classic FM and stick to Pete Tong’s Essential Selection.
