New Star Wars trailer online Friday

Don’t worry: you won’t have to buy a ticket at one of 30 select U.S. movie theaters this weekend or watch a bootleg version to see the Star Wars: The Force Awakens debut trailer anytime soon. That’s because the 88-second teaser will also hit iTunes Trailers this Friday.

Earlier this week, Disney revealed that the first trailer would show before every movie at those limited U.S. cinemas this coming weekend, but that an international debut would come in December. You might still want to see it on the big screen, but if your primary goal is simply to see the trailer in a crisp, official format, your wish will be granted come tomorrow.

Fire Phone unlocked and discounted in States

Amazon Fire Phone

Amazon’s Fire Phone debuted as an AT&T exclusive in the United States… and subsequently failed to gain much traction at all. After previously discounting the on-contract price to a mere dollar, now Amazon is selling the phone unlocked for the first time, and for a huge discount.

The unlocked 32GB Fire Phone now sells for just US$199.99 (about £127) in America, and that still includes a full year of Amazon Prime, which itself sells for half that price. Amazon reportedly has warehouses filled with the thing, so the move makes sense; now when will the UK see its unlocked model (still £399) brought down accordingly?

The Keyboard Waffle Iron is self-explanatory

Love the taste of waffles, but can’t quite wrap your head around its usual mundane shape? Well, there’s a Kickstarter for that. The Keyboard Waffle Iron is exactly what it purports to be: a waffle iron that outputs potentially delicious breakfast food in the shape of a QWERTY keyboard.

The campaign is seeking US$50,000 (about £31,700) to start producing the units, with a US$60 (£38) pledge getting you one in April 2015. It’s about a quarter of the way funded after two days, as of this writing, which bodes well for it making the cut before the 24 December deadline rolls around.

Metal Gear Online is being revived

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If you loved Metal Gear Online, the multiplayer component attached to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PlayStation 3, then you’re in luck: it’s been confirmed to appear in a new form at the first ever The Game Awards in Las Vegas next Friday, 5 December.

Metal Gear Online, which was available separately in Japan, shut down in 2012. The new Metal Gear Online is likely to be included with next year’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (pictured) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360, although that’s all we know for now. In typical Metal Gear (and creator Hideo Kojima) fashion, expect a truly odd and offbeat announcement.
