Fujitsu launches world’s smallest sat-nav

Meet the world’s smallest sat-nav devices: the new Windows Mobile Pocket Loox N series from Fujitsu Siemens.  

They’re not searching for large or even medium sized pockets to inhabit – both the N100 and N110 are just 16mm thick, and register a featherweight 100g on the scales.

The two models share a list of impressive features, including an accurate SiRFstar III GPS module, Windows Mobile 5.0 with its push e-mail, a 240×320 pixel touchscreen, and the new Navigon MobileNavigator version 6 software.

Interestingly – or not if you despise GPS – the devices are the first handhelds to feature Navigon’s new software, which has a redesigned interface and new features like ‘lane alert’, which tells you which lane to get into in advance.

It’s not all maps and directions though; there’s built-in music playback with support for MP3, WMA and AAC files, a calculator and support for games, which probably shouldn’t be played while carving through five lanes of traffic.

Although both have a miniSD slot for extra storage, the difference between the models is the internal storage: the N110 has an impressive 2GB memory, while the N100 lags behind with 128MB but comes with a bundled 1GB miniSD card.

Also included with both is a car holder and charger, a stylus and a TMC module so you can subscribe to traffic updates.
