B&W hitches a lift with Jag

Imagine the scene: a village green, elderly gents enjoying a pint of ale outside the Red Lion, and a shiny new Jaguar XKR parked under a sprawling oak tree. Could it get any more British?

Well, yes, actually. That stereotypical village scene needs a soundtrack (say, The Kinks) and providing the tunes in the new Jaguar XKR will be Blighty’s premier audiophile Bowers & Wilkins.

The eagle-eyed and petrol-headed amongst you may have already noticed the big cat of car manufacturers teaming up with B&W on a previous occasion. Jag’s concept motor, the C-XF, had B&W kit stashed in the dash, though the XKR will be the first proper production car to be given the privilege.

And a privilege it is. Famous perfectionist B&W uses only the highest of the high-end materials, including diamond tweeter domes and Kevlar midrange cones. It’s also cut out the need for a boy racer style subwoofer by developing Bass Beam drive units that squirrel away along the bottom of each of the front doors.

What you’ll get from this fancy tech is something approaching a moving version of Abbey Road studios, and it can all be yours just in time for the balmy British summer.
