Batman has his own official Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge now

Beautiful Dark Knight phone's comes with Gear VR and more

For all the hard work Batman undertakes defending Gotham from myriad threats, surely the Caped Crusader deserves a sweet smartphone of his own. And now Samsung has produced a phone worthy of both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition is a limited variant of this year’s excellent handset, putting a black-and-gold spin on the familiar design. It’s got gold lettering and accents on the front, including around the home button, as well as gold accents and a Bat-logo on the back.

It also comes in special packaging with a jet black Gear VR headset included, as well as vouchers for downloads of unspecified VR content. The box ships with a rubber case patterned after Batman’s suit, as well, along with a golden batarang.

The phone is also bundled with US$100 worth of in-game currency for Injustice: Gods Among Us, the DC Comics fighter the phone takes its branding from. What’s surprising about this promotion is that the phone is being released to celebrate the third anniversary of the mobile and console game, which hails from Mortal Kombat maker NetherRealm Studio.

Why is the third birthday so important? Why not tie this release into Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice instead? We have no idea.

Whatever the case, it’s a super sleek variant and we have to imagine many Bat-fans will be chasing this one down. It might not be easy, however: in addition to being made in limited quantities, the early June release will come "exclusively in select territories." China, Singapore, Korea, Latin America, and Russia are up first, although others will be added to the list.

Side note: remember the Dark Knight Rises-themed Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 phones? Four years feels like forever ago in the phone game.
