The new Alexa+ personality is Sassy by name and nature. She'll even curse you out if there's no kids around.
Amazon has announced a new Alexa+ personality for grown-ups only, allowing your Echo smart speaker‘s gen-AI assistant to swear back at you for a change. The new Sassy personality type, which won’t be permitted on any devices where Alexa Kids is enabled, promises to match your wit and sarcasm and will even bust out the odd censored curse word when the moment calls.
Amazon says Sassy brings “unfiltered personality with razor-sharp wit, playful sarcasm, and occasional censored profanity—you asked for it, and we’re delivering it. For those who appreciate humour with an edge, this style delivers entertaining banter and clever comebacks that keep things interesting.”
The preview Amazon offers today has Sassy leading with: “I’m buzzing with pure digital mayhem and it’s absolutely glorious. Ready to wreck some things together.” So that’s what we’re dealing with here.
Sassy joins the other new personalities Brief, Sweet, and Chill which arrived in January. Sweet is “your biggest cheerleader” which “transforms every day moments into opportunities for positivity”. Chill brings a “relaxed energy to every interaction”, while Brief “cuts straight to the point with no nonsense efficiency.” Yeah. Sign us up for that one. How often do you find yourself saying “Alright, enough.” to Alexa? Because I do that a lot.
Amazon says that it has created these distinct personality styles by building “a system that understands nuances of human communication. “Expressiveness, emotional openness, formality, directness and humour all come into it.
