Joto’s Alexa-connected whiteboard is not for teenage boys

Unless you want endless, um, anatomy pics

Draw a picture in the app and it’s re-drawn by your wall-mounted Joto, whether it’s in the same room or across the world. It’s a process that looks a lot cuter with some actual art involved: Joto has commissioned some press-and-play illustrations for the device from the likes of Fred Deakin, Ben the Illustrator and Will Scobie. But you can also set this Alexa-compatible gadget – currently funding on Kickstarter for a minimum £165 outlay – to draw out the name of the currently playing Spotify track, the weather forecast or a to-do list. Or, should you let your teenage nephew anywhere near the app, you can watch it produce endless puerile drawings of male anatomy.

About

Fraser used to wear a Psion Series 3 palmtop in a shoulder holster. Perhaps he still does.Either way, his lifelong mission - including fourteen years for Stuff - has been to see whether the consumer electronics industry can ever replicate that kind of cyborgian joy.So far: nope. Despite a plan to combine a action camera and Olympus Eye-Trek goggles to become Man Who Sees The Vision Of A Man Three Inches Taller Than Himself. He also likes mountain bikes, motorbikes, cars, helicopters. Still thinks virtual surround is witchcraft. Dislikes jetskis, despite never having been on one.
