8 watches in the Amazon Black Friday sale I’d genuinely recommend

Looking for an affordable watch this Black Friday? Here are eight budget timepieces I'd actually recommend…

Black Friday watch deals

Amazon’s Black Friday is always packed with watches that look the part, but fall apart the moment you twist the crown. I’ve been writing about watches for more than a decade, so I’ve seen every shortcut, every flimsy clasp, and every dodgy movement. That’s why I’ve gone through Amazon’s deals with a slightly jaded eye to find the ones that are actually worth your money.

The list turned out surprisingly sensible: eight watches from proper watchmakers like Timex, Citizen, and Seiko, with most landing under £200.

These aren’t fashion labels stamping logos on generic cases. They’re the dependable everyday watches you can wear for years without worrying the hands will freeze mid-commute. Some are great starters if you’re just getting into watches, others are cheap thrills if you just fancy something new. Either way, they offer real value, not bargain-bin regret.

Timex Ironman – now £33.89 (was £59.99, 44% off)

This is pure 1986 nostalgia. The 42mm shock-resistant resin case can take a beating, the INDIGLO backlight makes things readable in low light, and you get proper training tools like a 30-lap stopwatch, alarms, and a countdown timer. It’s 200m water-resistant too, so you can swim, snorkel, or just forget you’re wearing it.

Timex Expedition North Traprock – now £39.09 (was £95, 59% off)

A great grab for anyone who prefers simple field-watch vibes. It uses eco-friendly bioceramic for the 43mm case and strap, has full, lumed, Arabic numerals that are easy to read at a glance, and runs on a reliable quartz movement. Water resistance is minimal at 30m, but fine for day-to-day life.

Timex Weekender x Peanuts – now £42.24 (was £59.99, 30% off)

If you want something fun, get this Timex Weekender x Peanuts collaboration, where Charlie Brown’s arms act as the hands. It’s classic Weekender territory otherwise: 38mm case, fabric strap, quartz movement, and INDIGLO. Its very hard not to smile at.

Seiko Chronograph – now £179 (was £250, 28% off)

A proper step up with this Seiko Chronograph. You get a 44mm stainless-steel case, steel bracelet, Seiko’s tougher-than-usual Hardlex crystal, and 100m water resistance. The Lumibrite makes it readable in the dark, and the chronograph adds some everyday utility.

Timex Q GMT – now £120.79 (was £180, 33% off)

The Q is one of Timex’s most popular models, and the GMT function is handy if you travel or just want the look. The 38mm case wears well, and the design leans pleasantly retro. Acrylic crystal and 50m water resistance keep it casual, but that’s the charm.

Citizen Eco-Drive Darth Vader – now £180.59 (was £279, 35% off)

A fun one for Star Wars fans, with a Darth Vader dial, but still a proper Citizen underneath. Eco-Drive keeps it charged from light, and the build quality is solid. It’s 50m water-resistant, so fine for daily wear, and it comes with Citizen’s 5-year UK warranty.

Citizen Tsuyosa 38mm – now £235.16 (was £299, 21% off)

The Tsuyosa has been a hit since launch, and this smaller 37mm-ish version is a great everyday size. I actually wear .this exact model often. You get a bubblegum blue dial, stainless-steel bracelet, a date window, and luminous hands. It looks far pricier than it is, which is the whole appeal.

Seiko 5 Sports SNK385K1 – now £119 (was £159, 25% off)

The Seiko 5 Sports is a classic starter automatic. Stainless-steel case and bracelet, simple grey/silver dial, and Seiko’s dead-reliable movement ticking away inside. Water resistance is only 30m, but as a daily beater, it’s hard to argue with at this price.
