The ultimate Google Chromebook has some deep discounts this Black Friday

Write off Chromebooks as “just for classrooms” at your peril – especially when you can currently snap up the undisputed Chrome OS king at a tidy discount during the Black Friday sales season. Lenovo’s Chromebook Plus 14 is the finest Chrome-powered laptop I’ve seen in years, and right now it’s available with $50 / £100 off its usual retail price.

With a metal chassis that rivals a MacBook for slimness and style, there’s no doubt the Chromebook Plus 14 is a looker. It’s also rocking a comfortable backlit keyboard and doesn’t skimp on connectivity, with twin USB-Cs, a single USB-A and a 3.5mm headset port at the sides.

Open it up though, and you’re spoiled by a simply gorgeous OLED display. The 1920×1200 resolution is plenty sharp for Full HD video and colours are better than virtually any other laptop you’ll find for the cash. Clear, punchy speakers help make this a very well-rounded multimedia machine.

US shoppers can pick up a Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 for $599, a $50 discount or 7% off – when they order straight from Lenovo USA. If you’re in the UK, it’s an even cheaper at £449 when bought direct from Lenovo UK, a £100 discount or 18% off. Other retailers have yet to match Lenovo, so shopping direct is currently your best bet.
