Deal of the week: A 50in full HD TV for £449!

A 5-star television for less than £500. What are you waiting for?

What is it?

It’s a TV. Obviously. Oh, you want more info? Well it’s a 50in Panasonic full HD TV with all the smarts you’d hope for.

What does it do?

It displays images from various sources including streaming boxes, games consoles and satellite TV feeds. Sorry, I’m in a facetious mood today. It’s an LED LCD model – Panasonic doesn’t bother with plasma these days – with built-in Freeview HD tuner, 1080p resolution and the pleasures of Panasonic’s My Home Screen interface to explore.

Is it any good?

Very much so. The 50CS520 doesn’t mess around: there’s no 4K, no 3D, no real gimmicks, just superb full HD quality. Contrast is stellar, while colours are rich and vivid and it’s also sharp as a very sharp knife that’s just been sharpened. You won’t want to take your eyes off the screen. We gave it the full 5 stars in our test last year.

Is there anything wrong with it?

Nothing major. While the My Home Screen interface works perfectly well, allowing you to customise your screen with widgets if you so choose, it’s now a few years old and isn’t as slick as the OS within the latest LG and Samsung sets. But most people will probably be using a games console or streamer such as a Chromecast or Roku anyway, so you won’t see it much. Oh, and it only has two HDMI slots, which seems a bit stingy.

Is this really a good deal?

Absolutely. It arrived with an RRP of £699 and cost £500 not long ago. You’ll struggle to find a better set for the £449 it’s available for now.

OK, I’m convinced. Where do I get it?

Head over to Very at this link. And don’t forget to thank us when you’re enjoying the new Game Of Thrones episode in lovely HD next week.
