Sony’s NEX-VG20E camcorder is let loose

This latest Handycam is not for your average YouTube kitten-recording fanatic.

Although slipped in amongst the NEX and Alpha model camera announcements, there’s no denying that Sony’s Handycam NEX-VG20E deserves a spotlight of its own. As well as happily devouring your surroundings in full 1080p HD, the cam can snap stills at an impressive 16.1MP with RAW support.

Tinkerers will appreciate the comprehensive set of manual controls on offer and compatibility with existing E-mount lenses is a welcome bonus. The Quad Capsule Spatial Array microphone supports both stereo and 5.1 channel surround sound, with the option to beef up recording prowess with pro-style jacks for external mics and headphones.

The pricing on this video guzzler remains a mystery but we expect to know more closer to its November release date.
