Pioneer launches new Blu-ray home cinema systems

Four is the magic number for new home entertainment set-ups

Pioneer, maker of fantastic home entertainment kit, has added four new Blu-ray home cinema systems to its line-up of covetable black, shiny things. What we’ve actually got is two systems with different speaker options. The first – the regular series – supports 3D Blu-ray disc playback and offers both Wi-Fi and iPod/iPhone connectivity to avoid the need to set up elaborate wire systems around the sofas.

The BCS-717 and BCS-313 also both include 5.1 channel surround sound and a slim, side-facing subwoofer that can be tucked away out of sight. Choose from the 717’s centre speaker and four tall speakers or the 313’s tiny satellite speakers. Performance-wise we’re talking 5x 180W and 200W from the subwoofer.

In the basics range, you get the same Blu-ray playback, combined performance and speaker configurations – with the 414’s four tall speakers and the 212’s compact set-up. To save money, the basics series doesn’t support an iPod/iPhone cradle or Wi-Fi connectivity and comes with a chunkier subwoofer. Plus, all the new Pioneer systems let you watch YouTube videos and browse Picasa albums without a PC – the icing on the stylish home cinema cake.
