CoPilot Live iPhone sat nav app hits App Store
While TomTom has been taking its time getting its sat nav app to the iPhone, yet another company has overtaken them at getting their app into the App Store first, and this time its CoPilot Live.
CoPilot Live will take advantage of the turn-by-turn navigation brought to the iPhone with its 3.0 update, and add in automatic route calculation, 3D map displays, and voice directions.
The app will work on full UK postcodes, or alternatively the house number and street name, to get you exactly where you need to go.
It will also include popular features you may well have seen on your standalone sat nav, like lane assistance, speed limit alerts and CoPilot's ClearTurn which provides a more realistic display of junctions and major road exits.
Finally CoPilot Live can use your iPhone's internet connection to connect up to "Live" services such as a 5-day weather forecast and later this year, real-time traffic information will be available too.
CoPilot Live is available from the App Store now for a one-off free of £25.99 – all the maps are downloaded and stored on your phone, so there's no need for a monthly fee to keep the service going.

I bought Co Pilot for Iphone after reading this and I am extremely please with it. I needed to buy a windscreen holder and charger which I found on Amazon for £8(http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00290S1L4/ref=ox_ya_oh_product)
which did the trick.
To put it to the test I took it on a route from South Wales to Bagshot which it did perfectly. All the motorway signs appeared on the screen, and the lane assist screen pops up to advise when to change lanes. I'm aware that tomtom for Iphone came out today for £59.99 but I'm not convinced it is worth the extra cash as this did such a good job. The only thing which was a bit frustrating was for the first few minutes the iphone seemed to autolock, meaning I had to unlock the phone while driving (not ideal). I'm sure a change in the iphone settings will resolve this. If a call comes in and you reject it, the sat nav works as normal. If you accept the call you can later go back to navigation with 2 taps of the screen. Quite acceptable I thought. Overall I thought it was well worth the cash once you have got your holder and charger.
