5.9in Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is on the horizon

A report in The Korea Times states that Samsung is working on a 5.9in Galaxy Note 3 handset to compete with the likes of the ZTE Grand Memo and Huawei Ascend Mate.

The Note 2 successor is expected to pack the same eight-core Exynos 5 processor that's rumoured to be in the Samsung Galaxy S4 and we expect to see the now-standard 2GB of RAM thrown in for good measure.

Samsung's flexible display tech won't be making an appearance due to reported time constraints, though we can pretty much guarantee a return of the S Pen.

Whether or not the Galaxy Note 3's screen will pack enough pixels to warrant a full HD label remains to be seen, but we'd still recommend working on those finger stretching exercises if you plan on picking one up later this year.

    1) This hasn't been confirmed as the note 3. All the blogs are jumping onto the foregone conclusion bandwagon assuming it is the Note 3 when nothing was specifically detailing the device model number. Yes the Note 3 comes out during H2, but Samsung has hinted at 6.3 inches for the Note 3. This could be the Note 3's smaller sibling for those that prefer the smaller offering.

    2) The Note 3 will rest assured be getting 1080p or even 1200p, if a smaller S4 warrants a 1080p display, how on earth do you come to the conclusion that a larger screen doesn't warrant it. The bigger the screen, the more pixels are likely to be visible at a lower resolution.

    3) More than likely, the amount of RAM being discussed is leaning toward 3GB of RAM for high end phablets, the 6.44 inch Sony Togari will be equipped with 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 800. The leaked Samsung Tablet GT-8220 will be carrying a screen res of 1600p at 10.1 inches and rumoured to also come with Exynos Octa.

    4) It is clear the S4 is no longer the flagship device for Samsung in terms of specs, it is the media's poster child for Samsung and the mainstream model, but when we talk specs the note 3 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 3 will be the flagships for the conglomerate.
