PowerSkin SpareOne mobile phone runs on a single AA battery

How’s 15 years for a battery life? That’s what PowerSkin claims its new SpareOne mobile will run for, with the caveat that you can’t use it in the interim. The company’s new phone is powered by a single AA battery, making those frantic searches for a USB/iPhone cable and available power socket a thing of the past.
Of course, you’ll have to do away with smartphone creature comforts, but PowerSkin says its SpareOne is designed as an emergency phone to be used – to pick an example entirely at random – when your smartphone’s juice and your luck run out simultaneously.

You may not think you’ll get much chat out of a single AA battery, but the SpareOne claims an impressive 10-hour talk time on its bundled Energizer Ultimate Lithium cell. The handset will also ship with a micro SIM card when it goes on sale early this year. US pricing is US$50, with European details to emerge nearer the time.

Ok I must admit that this is very impressing.I wonder if this phone can send text messages or if it can be used on a text marketing service. These days text marketing is very popular and everybody wants to be part of it.

The SpareOne can be programmed for instant access to phone numbers of key contacts, including emergency services in any location.
