BBC iPlayer hits Roku as boxes start shipping in the UK

Auntie Beeb signs up for the perfectly purple £50 Smart TV box

Streaming media set-top box Roku has added the BBC iPlayer to its lineup of channels, just as the boxes start shipping to UK customers.

Roku’s supplying two models for the UK market. The stripped-back £50 Roku LT offers up 720p playback, while the £100 Roku 2 CS ups the ante with 1080p playback and a motion-controlled Bluetooth remote.

As well as the BBC iPlayer, both Roku boxes feature 40 channels of live and on-demand programming including Netflix, Crackle and TuneIn.
