Sony has always been the closest thing PC fans have had to Apple styling but those who were dangerously close to reaching for the credit card for a new iMac have a fresh reason to return to the soft downy bosom of Microsoft. Not only has Sony announced UK availability of its cute, under-telly, cake-tin PC, the Vaio TP1, but also unveiled its iMac killer, the Vaio LT19U, loaded with even more entertainment goodies.Looking a tad chunkier than its 'impossibly thin' rival, the 22in all-in-one slots in neatly between the two iMac sizes. It packs Vista Ultimate, natch, and has a 1.3MP cam above its hi-res widescreen. Audio's taken care of by hidden 3W stereo cones and a 5W sub.Under the perspex hood it rocks a Blu-ray burner, TV tuner, 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 chip, 2GB of RAM, a stonking 500GB hard disk and a mighty 256MB Nvidia GeForce 8400 GT graphics card for breezing through hi-def films and your new copy of Bioshock. We're waiting for UK pricing and availability but expect that hi-def drive to bump the price up above even the top-specced 28in iMac. Pesky next-gen drive costs.Essentials Sony Vaio VGX-TP1, LT19U Price: £TBA, £TBA ($2900 in US) On sale: end September, TBA Contact: Sony Related stories: Apple unveils three new iMacs, revamped iLife Sony Vaio RM1N – the ultimate HD editing suite?
