Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X knock iPhone 4S off Stuff's number one spot

The mighty iOS has been toppled by two of Android's heaviest hitters, but will the iPhone 5 take back the crown upon its release?

The Apple iPhone 4S has lost its number one spot to two Android handsets in Stuff's coveted Top 10 Smartphones list – ending its impressive six months in the top spot, and laying to rest four years of Apple domination as the number one Stuff smartphone.

The Android handsets in question are, of course, the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3, with the Galaxy S3 earning the right to sit atop the fiercely fought throne above its second and third place HTC One X and iPhone 4S rivals.

The iPhone 4S initially lost out to the impressive HTC One X in our July issue, knocking it down to second place. Now, after having reviewed the mighty Samsung Galaxy S3 – with its super speed, innovative software and formidable battery life – we pass the crown over to Samsung's flagship handset.

All eyes are now firmly focused on Apple and its long-rumoured iPhone 5, to see what it can bring to the fight to beat its Android rivals.

The smartphone wars are undoubtedly the bloodiest and most closely fought in the techosphere, and we've never been happier. Bring on the next round we say...
