Reported HTC flagship phone specs leak: Is Hima the One (M8)’s successor?

Is this the next great Android phone? The would-be M9 sports big enhancements

Spring is about when we’d expect HTC to launch the follow-up to the excellent HTC One (M8), and thanks to reliable leaker @upleaks, we have an updated idea now of what to expect.

The source dumped a load of specs yesterday after teasing the reveal for weeks. As of now, all of this information is unverified, but previous leaks from the account have panned out in the past.

According to the report, the next flagship is called the HTC Hima rather than the One (M9), although that could turn out to be simply a codename. It’s expected to maintain the 5in display of the One (M8) pictured in the above image, including sticking with a 1080p screen instead of pushing for more pixels.

Where it purportedly makes strides is with its processor, a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 810 – a 64-bit, octa-core beast backed by 3GB RAM and a 2840mAh battery. You’ll notice that many of these details vary from what reportedly leaked just days ago.

Iif HTC’s UltraPixel cameras never seemed worth the fuss, take heart: it sounds like the Hima will feature a standard back camera running at 20.7 megapixels. An UltraPixel camera may still appear up front, but that’s to be finalized; the leak says it might just be a standard 13MP self-shooter like on the HTC Desire Eye.

Word is that the HTC Hima will launch in time for MWC 2015 at the start of March, and that a dual-SIM Hima Ace variant is likely for China, at least. As for a Windows Phone version, @upleaks teases that it remains unknown for now.

Will the HTC Hima be the early phone to beat next year? Stay tuned as we hopefully get some official word on the company’s next flagship sooner than later.
