Nike unboxes the limited edition Back to the Future MAG trainers

Time to unload the hoverboard from the back of your DeLorean – it's show time

After releasing a tantalising teaser movie yesterday, Nike has officially unveiled the legendary replica trainers that were worn by Marty McFly in Back to the Future Part II. 1,500 replicas of the Nike Mag will be produced and sold on eBay where sales proceeds will go to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease research.

Although they lack any self-lacing technology, the trainers do feature glowing LED panels and an electroluminescent Nike strap, all of which are lit by a mere pinch of the high top’s ear and powered by a rechargeable battery providing 3,000 hours of usage.

150 pairs will be auctioned off each day for 10 days and prices are already reaching US$5000 dollars– great news for charity, bad news for fans. Bids are limited to US residents, but we’re crossing every appendage we have in a hope that these get a general release in the future, with a self-lacing upgrade off course.
