Smart ring specialist Oura has teamed up with Harry Kane and Declan Rice to track sleep and recovery during the World Cup and afterwards.

The England captain and vice-captain have been using Oura Ring 5 to track their health metrics, highlighting the role that factors like sleep and recovery play in elite performance.

And the players are clearly in a good place, with Kane scoring twice in England’s entertaining 4-2 victory over Croatia. The result put Thomas Tuchel’s side top of Group L after the first round of matches. The players will be hoping to take the same level of performance forward into the upcoming games against Ghana and Panama on Tuesday 23 and Saturday 27 June.

Speaking about the partnership, Kane said: “At the highest level of football, I’ve always believed that preparation is not just what happens on the pitch, but what happens off it too. When you’re competing on the world stage, knowing exactly when to push your body and prioritise recovery is key to securing those extra gains.”

Rice added: “When you’re training and competing at the highest level, taking care of yourself in every aspect—physically, mentally and through recovery – is absolutely essential. [The Oura Ring 5 is} a great product but it’s also helping me maximize my potential on and off the pitch. I have used the Oura Ring previously, but now it’s part of my everyday routine – it’s been a game changer.”

To mark the partnership, Oura has launched the film below, which focuses on the expectation on the players to be ‘ready’ for the challenge ahead.

Earlier this year, Oura was named the official wearable of Team USA, and the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It’s also working with Team Finland, the US Open and US Soccer as well.
