Gemini to automate boring multi-step tasks like booking an Uber and ordering dinner

Gemini's agentic era is here with the chance to offload multi-step tasks on Pixel 10 and Galaxy S26 phones

Gemini-Multi-Step-Tasks

Google had a part to play in today’s Samsung Galaxy S26 series reveal, taking the stage to announce an agentic Gemini AI feature that’ll allow users to hand-off multiple tasks at once.

Google says the new feature will help users take care of repetitive multi-step tasks like ordering an Uber home from work and ensuring their favourite Doordash order won’t be far behind. The idea is to offset the donkey work in these tasks, i.e. adding the location and destination to the Uber app, and adding all of the items to your regular Smithy-from-Gavin-and-Stacy-style curry order. It’ll save you the hassle and you’ll be able to check the workings-out before calling.

The multi-step feature is gong to launch in beta on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 series phones. Google says it’ll be available for just a few apps initially, primarily in the food, grocery and ride share categories.

“Simply long-press the power button and ask Gemini to help book you a ride home or reorder your last meal on DoorDash. Gemini will work seamlessly in the background, leaving you free to keep using your phone,” Google says in a blog post.

Google says the feature creates a “secure, virtual window” on your phone rather than offering up access to the rest of the device. Users can monitor what Gemini is up to along the way and it will close as soon as the requested automation is finished. Users will be prompted to complete the tasks themselves, i.e. checking out in Doordash after the app after the order has been prepared. Phone owners in the US and Korea will get first access to the feature.
