The evolution of AIBO continues at an astonishing rate.

The new Champagne Brown ERS-7M3 comes with Mind 3 software which allows the mecha-mutt to communicate with spoken words and upload his own photo diary blog.

Other new touches include the ability go online to receive emails – you can check how he’s doing while you’re away – and collect the latest headlines from AIBO Net News. Being read the news by a robot dog wasn’t one of our technological hopes for 2005, but we’re impressed all the same.

The final big improvement is that AIBO now has a memory. It’s only slightly better than a goldfish at 5 minutes long, but within that time he can automatically find his favourite places and charging station without the need for sensors.

The new AIBO model and Mind 3 software will be available this October with an upgrade kit available for owners of the current ERS-7.

He costs a cool £1400 – for more info check out the AIBO website
