Nintendo incentivises buying a Switch 2 before the prices go up

The Nintendo Switch 2 prices are going up, but in the meantime you can save a few quid and choose the game you get with the system

Nintendo may be raising the prices of the Switch 2, but in the meantime you can save a few bucks and at least you’ll be able to choose the game you get with the games console bundle now.

The unimaginatively-named Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle lets you pick between Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza or Pokémon Pokopia. How marvellously nice of them!

The bundle has a $500 suggested retail price and goes on sale this summer, specifically before the price rise goes into effect on September 1. On that date, that’s what you’re going to pay for the system without a game included. In the meantime the bundle still offers a saving of up to a $30 compared with buying the console and the system separately.

You get the most bang for your buck by choosing Mario Kart World, which is $10 cheaper than the others to buy as a standalone game. That’s nothing really new. It’s the price Nintendo has been selling the bundle for all along. Anyway, there’s more choice now, with two options offering slightly less value for money. The bundles will be available “while supplies last.” I have a feeling that’ll be until September 1, when the price increase comes into effect.

Nintendo is putting up the prices in the USA, Europe and Canada as a result of the RAM shortage driven by AI no-one’s asking for.

Earlier this month the company said the changes will be made “in light of changes in market conditions, and after considering the global business outlook. We sincerely apologise for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding.”
