The MacBook Neo might not be the only Mac to get a new paint job in 2026

An iMac M5 or iMac M6 could arrive this year with an updated colour palette.

Apple is planning to launch a new iMac all-in-one desktop model in new colours this year, according to a seasoned, in-the-know Apple watcher.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has been told the palette will be refreshed when Apple updates its longest-running desktop series, which is likely to happen this year.

The M-Series iMac models have been rocking funky hues since before the new rainbow-kissed MacBook Neo models were a glimmer in Tim Cook’s eye. And now, according to Gurman’s sources, the pending update will arrive “in new colours later this year.”

Apple last updated the iMac to fit an M4 processor, which is available in a healthy choice of seven colours – blue, purple, pink, orange, yellow, green, and silver. They were a slight switch from the original colours that’d been with the iMac since the M1 version arrived.

What else Apple could offer with an M5 (or perhaps even M6 MacBook remains to be seen. The new MacBook Neo for example comes in four “stunning” colours dubbed Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo. Perhaps we’ll see the colour variants applied to the iMac too, with Magic Keyboards and mice to match? There are rumours of a deep red iPhone on the way too. Would that be too much for an iMac?

There’s no indication from Gurman that Apple is planning to change the design of the next iMac beyond the colours. Indeed, the sleek, thin design with the tilt-able display seems like a fixture for now. The iMac has often represented the best of Apple design with the G3 and G4 models from the turn of the century sitting among the more iconic computing products ever released.
