Google Photos latest feature will turn you into a popular meme

Google is rolling out a new AI-based ‘Meme Me’ feature within Google Photos that’l help you turn yourself into a meme.

On Google’s support pages, the company revealed Google Photos users in the United States. It’ll allow you to take preset meme templates and plant a photo of yourself in there for good measure. Google calls it a way to create “funny, personalised images” that are easily shareable with friends and family.

Interestingly, the feature seems to suggest you’re only allowed to use a photo of yourself. That might prevent it being used for less than pleasant purposes. Probably for the best if your group chats are anything like mine!

I’m not seeing the feature available within my Google Photos app on iOS yet. The company does say Meme Me rolling out now, so it might take a while to reach all users in the United States.

In the support post Google explains:

  • To use Me Meme:
  • On your device, open the Google Photos app.
  • At the bottom, tap Create and then Me Meme.
  • Select a template.
  • Tap Add photo.
  • Select the photo you want to upload.
  • Tap Generate.
  • After the meme is generated:
  • To save the meme: Tap Save.
  • To generate again: Tap Regenerate.
  • To share on the other platforms: Tap Share.
