Sony’s new TV range will have YouView built-in

The 2015 Bravia series, 12 of which are 4K models, are the first to offer the catch-up service

Sony has unveiled its latest batch of Bravia TVs – and they are the first UK tellies to come with built-in YouView.

Currently, the catch-up and streaming service – which offers access to BBC iPlayer, 4oD, ITV Player, Demand 5, Netflix, Now TV and more – is currently available only through set-top boxes made by BT, Humax, TalkTalk and Huawei. Sony is the first company to put YouView capabilities inside a TV.

12,000 on-demand shows

The 2015 Bravia range will include 20 YouView-compatible models, 12 of which are also 4K resolution TVs (the rest are full HD 1080p models). Sony says users will have access to over 12,000 on-demand TV programmes, searchable by genre, popularity and how recently they’ve been added. The TVs’ search functions will seamlessly integrate live TV and on-demand content.

Another YouView-centric feature is the seven-day scroll back: users can literally “scroll back” through the YouView programme guide to find things from the past week they’ve missed, then watch them.
