DAB radio, as those of you who’ve already bought Wi-Fi radios know, is as cutting edge as Jessica Fletcher’s typewriter.

Today’s list of web radios already includes Acoustic Energy (AE), the Streamiums, the Squeezeboxes and the Soundbridges, and now Currys is joining the party with this brand spanking new Logik IR100. Its secret weapon is price, undercutting AE’s mutha by a full £50.

Unless you’re into Romanian gothic ‘50s trouser reggae, you should find something to listen to – the Logik can pick up around 5,000 stations at the moment, and you add extras via Reciva’s website. Beeb fans will be relieved to hear there are 79 BBC stations on offer.

Like its rivals, Currys’ machine will play your PC’s tunes too, so long as they’re in Real Audio, MP3, WMA, AAC (not iTunes Music Store ones, obviously), WAV and AIFF. It’s also Mac compatible, but sadly lacking in audio connections with just a solitary headphone socket.

Sound’s provided via a mono speaker which we’re promised has plenty of bass, and favourites are handled by five presets that you dial in on the radio.
