Rumour mill – Microsoft plotting universal OS

18 Jul 2011

Want to hear an early rumour of some big, big news? Windows is being killed off, and Microsoft is the axe-wielding maniac delivering the deathly blow to the world’s most popular operating system.

Scary, right? Yes, but that’s the word according to This Is My Next, which reckons the computer giant could be ditching its veteran brand within the next four years.

The blog also speculates that Windows will be replaced by a universal OS that works across all platforms – PCs, mobiles, consoles and tablets. So, what’s it to be? Red ring of death on your laptop or daily security updates for your mobile? While we pray for neither, how about some ideas for a name? Anyone?
