Vertu Boucheron 150 – is this the most vulgar phone ever?

10 Dec 2008

Word is there's something called a recession about to kick off in a major way. But if you're an upper class socialite who thinks the credit crunch is a chewy new creation by Cadbury's, it's probably not hurting you too bad right now. In fact, posh phone makers Vertu know that you're alright, which is why they've just unveiled this, the new Boucheron 150.Built to celebrate the 150th anniversary of French jewellery house Boucheron, the phone is crafted from a single piece of solid gold. Word is it takes more than 2,000 hours to craft by hand too. The price? Apparently $30,000.Vertu clearly isn't too concerned about style, despite the hefty cost. Just look at it. We've seen some vulgar, overpriced goodies in our time, but surely this has to take the top spot. Obviously we'll no normal person will get their hands on one, but if you had all that cash, would plump for this? Nah, thought not. What do you think? Is this the most vulgar phone you've ever seen? To be brutally honest if I had a few billion stashed away I would most certainly purchase it. When one is off to a dinner party and needs to strike up conversation with other posh totty.
