Jelly Bean update hits unlocked Galaxy S3 smartphones

Android Jelly Bean

Android Jelly Bean is now ready to pluck out of the air if you happen to own an unlocked, SIM-free Samsung Galaxy S3.

All 284.36MB of improved performance, functionality and customisable goodness is available over-the-air so it's worth heading to the relevant option under settings ('About Device', then 'Update') to see if you are good to go. If Jelly Bean fails to jump out at you, don't fret. Simply use Samsung's KIES desktop software to initiate the download and voila, the end result is the same.

Definitely a case of better late than never - take note, Sony - but still a much faster turnaround than what we saw with the Galaxy S3's predecessor getting a foot-up to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

For non-unlocked Galaxy S3 users, Vodafone, O2 and Three has started the rollout so if that concerns you, it's probably worth a look.
