The dedicated code junkies at XDA Developers have managed to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running on a HTC G1 – the world's first Android phone.

Although the G1's 528MHz processor and 192mb of RAM visibly struggle to keep up with menu transitions and animations, it's still a rather impressive feat for the father of modern Android devices.

Wi-Fi, bluetooth and rotation aren't working for the time being, but if you have an old G1 lying around and have some time to kill, head on over to the development thread and feed your Android grandfather some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness.
