Google Nexus 4 sells out within hours

Gadgeteers loyal to the green Android flag whose dreams have been haunted by the sparkly allure of the Google Nexus 4 will have to wait a little while to get their hands on the new Jelly Bean smartphone – both the 8GB and 16GB models sold out within hours of going on sale.

A visit to the Play Store to snap up the latest flagship pure Android phone will now result in a 'coming soon' status for both models, with no indication of when more stock is due.

The 16GB Nexus 10 tablet with its iPad 4-beating screen is still in stock – although the 32GB model has also received the 'coming soon' treatment.

Bad news then for those looking to snap up a shiny new Nexus 4 on launch day, but considering that you can buy an unlocked Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 tablet for around the cost of a single SIM free smartphone, it'll probably be worth the wait.

Read our Nexus 4 review in the meantime to keep those flames of desire burning brightly.
