Panasonic Lumix GX1 announced
Panasonic's gunning for the top spot on the interchangeable lens camera podium
Panasonic has just outed the GX1, a worthy addition to the interchangeable lens camera brigade and billed as the true ‘pro’ evolution of the GF1 – but will it be enough to stop us clinging to our chunky DSLRs?
The GX1 packs a Live MOS Four Thirds 16MP sensor, compared to the 12.1MP Four Thirds sensor on its predecessor, the Lumix GF3, with a Venus Engine image processor and full HD video skills. The 0.9 second autofocus – the current fastest for compact system cams – means you shouldn’t be left waiting for a panting and wheezing GX1 to keep up, especially when it’s coupled with a Burst Shooting mode of up to 20fps.
Panny’s crammed in a 3in LCD touchscreen on the rear of the aluminium body, which comes in grey and black. External buttons and on-screen options offer up tons of shooting modes and filters but the GX1 still manages to weigh in at just 413g.
The Panasonic GX1 will land in mid December body-only for £500. It’ll set you back £600 or £730 combined with the 14-42mm or X Power Zoom lenses respectively.
