A new third party iPlayer app is set to launch soon that will see you able to download your favourite Beeb shows on to your iPhone, so you can watch them at your leisure.

Dug out by the chaps over at Electricpig, Rewatch will work on both iPhone or iPod Touch, and developer Camiloo also ‘fessed up to working on an iPad version as well, taking advantage of the higher res 9.7-inch screen.

Currently, the official iPlayer iPhone app only allows you to stream shows over Wifi, making it rather restricting for when and where you can play catch up.

However Rewatch will allow you to download your shows when you’re in a Wifi area and then watch them back whenever – although you’ll only be able to keep them for the length of time they’re available to watch.

Interestingly, this might not be the full stretch of Rewatch, as it has said it can license its tech to other channels, so other catch up services could whack their shows onto the catalogue as well. Nice.

Rewatch is currently in review for release so fingers crossed Apple gives it the thumbs up soon.

We’ll let you know when Rewatch hits the App Store – it certainly looks promising, so we’ll be giving it the Stuff.tv once over as soon as it does.
