LOVEFiLM app arrives on Android

Android users can finally join the LOVEFiLM party. There are restrictions, though

LOVEFiLM has unveiled its first ever Android app for film lovers to manage their LOVEFiLM accounts on the go. With the iPhone app doing the rounds since the beginning of 2010 and LOVEFiLM’s iPad app recently putting in an appearance in Apple’s app warehouse, it’s about time Android followed suit.

The bad news for Android users who’ve been patiently waiting for LOVEFiLM to grace their Android handset is that the app doesn’t actually offer the streaming capabilities of the iPad’s offering. Instead, you can get quick and easy access to your rental list, read reviews, watch movie trailers and access the LOVEFiLM movie catalogue – home to 70,000 titles.

LOVEFiLM is keeping schtum about the streaming omission and with no word as to when Android users will be treated to this functionality, it will have to be a case of making do with what’s on offer.

Want in? You can download the app right now from the Android App Market. Alternatively, if you’re not a LOVEFiLM subscriber, you can take it for a free 30-day test drive using the code ANDROID01.
