Apple TV downloads start rolling out in the UK

Poor old Apple TV. Its moniker has been overshadowed by unrelenting rumours of an Apple television set, and it's all but ready to slink away and quietly accept its fate.

9to5mac's report of permanently owned content making its way to UK Apple TV boxes is therefore welcome news for current owners, who until now had to suffice with a rental-only system.

Users have reported over-the-air updates hitting their Apple TV devices, so keep an eye on your system to see when it's available – just remember that you need an active connection to stream purchased content from iCloud and you're good to go.
