Want a black iPhone 18 Pro? You’re probably going to be disappointed
Apple dropped black last year – and the latest leaks suggest it’s not coming back
Some of the best iPhone Pro models landed in black, before the iPhone 17 Pro decided to come along and ditch the classic colour. And if you’ve been holding out for a black iPhone 18 Pro for a return to a more classic shade, there’s bad news.

According to Weibo leaker Instant Digital (via MacRumors), the iPhone 18 Pro still isn’t expected to come in a black finish, following in the footsteps of its iPhone 17 Pro predecessor which ditched the classic colour for Silver, Deep Blue, and the rather alluring Cosmic Orange.
Previous reports from Mark Gurman have already stated that Apple is testing a deep red version for the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, which, while interesting, still won’t make up for the lack of a black iPhone Pro for those after a timeless, monochrome look.
If it’s the rumoured iPhone Fold you’re after though, there’s better news. Gurman believes that Apple will be sticking with more traditional grey and black colours, which makes sense given that it’ll mark a brand new category and untested waters.
As things stand, it looks like Apple is planning to reveal a new funky colour option each year for its iPhone range, though we’re not sure when a black iPhone Pro will be on the cards again.
We expect all will be confirmed in September, when Apple launches its new iPhone 18 range amongst the usual fanfare, so stay tuned.
