Sony Ericsson Nypon LT22i leaked

Meet Sony’s Ice Cream Sandwich wonder-phone with the NovaThor dual-core chip

Sony Ericsson’s Nypon LT22i is pure Sony right down the to dual-core processor, sort of. Its latest smartphone, the Nypon, is going to have a NovaThor U8500 chipset – which means Sony’s very own remix of 1GHz Cortex A9 processors.

The other specs on this Ice Cream Sandwich toting handset include a qHD display and – like the iPhone 4S – 512MB RAM. Not as impressive as the rumoured LT26i Nozomi’s 720x1280px screen, but at least we know this one is real.

The last time Sony created its own chipset was for the PS3 – which, at the time, was one of the most powerful in the world. So hopefully we can look forward to an impressive mobile future as Sony Ericsson becomes Sony in 2012.
