It’s been slated as vapourware ever since it was first announced but now pre-orders are being taken for the first ever customizable keyboard with individual OLED keys, the Optimus Maximus.What makes this QWERTY arrangement special is that each key features its own 32x32pixel display. While not quite there for HD, it’ll more than stretch to displaying a perfect icon of each key’s function.Change language and the keys change with you, load up Quake and the standard letters disappear to be replaced by dedicated labels for your rockets, grenades, chat function, etc.The price for such aluminium clad luxury? A mere 1500 dollars, and that’s with an expected five-year lifespan.But fret not if that’s beyond your budgetary limits, as well as the three-key Optimus Mini already available, up to three lower-cost full-size versions are on the way with fewer customisable keys but more wallet-friendly three figure price tags.
