The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time might be getting a full remake for the Nintendo Switch 2 console later this year, according a gaming insider with a good track record.
NateTheHate reckons that a the 1998 Nintendo 64 open world game might be in line for a full and proper remake for the company’s latest console. Speaking on his podcast, NateTheHate revealed his sources are pointing towards the remake coming later this year. He wouldn’t fully commit to a 1:1 remake, just it ends up being a HD remaster.
“One game that will not be releasing in holiday 2026 is 3D Mario. 3D Mario will be releasing in 2027,” Nate said. “But there is another anniversary this year, and it’s the anniversary of The Legend of Zelda… what I can share with you today is that in the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.”
In even better news for Nintendo Switch 2 fans, Nintendo is also planning a new Star Fox game for 2026. The space-based shoot ’em up began life on the SNES, received a sequel on the N64. There’s been a few less illustrious sequels since, but it appears Fox McCloud might be returning, according to NateTheHate.
“Star Fox is coming back in summer 2026. We’re getting a new Star Fox game in the very near future,” he said. “I’ve been told it’s a classic style Star Fox game, [and that] the visuals are supposed to be very good, and I’ve heard it does have online multiplayer.”
VCG says it has independently verified the information via its own sources. Both also say not to expect a new 3D Mario game until 2027.
