New transparent Ferguson Hill speakers give Stuff the horn

When Ferguson Hill originally strode in to our office with its see-through plastic speaker horns two years back, there were mulitple faintings, wails of delight and at least two pigeons who bumped into them.

Come next month, the spectacle looks likely to be repeated, as Fergie has reborn its unique speakers as a desktop-sized, sub-£1000 system for our iPods and PCs. Alongside the beautiful horn speakers are a pair of bass speakers (the smaller round things) for low-end grunt and the cube-shaped amp (the box with the nob on the front).

Though the whole get-up requires a fair spot of desk real estate - the horns are 43cm tall - Fergie reckons they create the illusion of space because they're, well, see-through. Whatever, we reckon they look gorgeous.

Connection to your Pod, Zen or PC comes via stereo phono jacks and a minijack, so there's no all-digital option. That's no great shakes, though, as most hi-fi buffs don't dig digital's sound anyway.

You better be fast on the buzzer if you want a set, as there are only 100 available when they go on sale next month.
